Nostalgia — A Return to the Ancestral Home
When spiritual mediums seek to summon the souls of loved ones we have lost, they surround the space in darkness and begin murmuring mysterious, cryptic words.
But through art — in broad daylight — this was the artist's attempt at his own summoning: drawing on memories of what the departed did in their daily lives, the objects they touched, the vessels they carried, the food they tasted. Things deeply woven into their spirits, beloved to their souls, overflowing with their intimate emotions and daily rituals — which steadily carved out who they were and shaped their destinies in this world.
All that remains of them.
